Dr. Roger Knighton

MANHATTAN, KANSAS – Dr. Roger Knighton, Las Vegas, Nevada, was selected by the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine and its Veterinary Medical Alumni Association to receive a 2023 Alumni Recognition Award. The award was presented Feb. 20, 2023 in conjunction with the Western Veterinary Conference in Las Vegas in recognition of his career in veterinary medicine and for having served as an exemplary role model for future alumni in a professional and community setting.

Born and raised in McGill, Nevada, Dr. Knighton attended White Pine High School in Ely, Nevada. He received a bachelor’s degree in animal science in 1976 and a bachelor’s degree in veterinary science in 1980, both from the University of Nevada, Reno. He then earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1984 from Kansas State University. Dr. Knighton began his career with the Spring Mountain Animal Hospital in 1984, which later became the VCA Spring Mountain Animal Hospital as part of the VCA animal hospital network in 1993.

Dr. Knighton specializes in small animal medicine with an interest in veterinary dentistry. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Nevada Veterinary Medical Association, serving as the president of the latter in 2008.

Dr. Knighton has two children, Jake and Michelle, and one granddaughter. He is an avid skier and considers himself to be an all-around handyman.
